Three days in Grayton, WaterColor and Seaside

Base near Grayton, WaterColor, Seaside, or Seagrove for a Friday town-center dinner, Saturday at Western Lake and the Gulf, and a Sunday Timpoochee Trail ride.

By Cal Mercer

Friday

Grayton or Seaside dinner

Check in by late afternoon and walk to a restaurant in the same central-30A cluster.

Saturday

Western Lake and the Gulf

Start at the confirmed beach entry, then use the park only when its current notice and weather support the outing.

Sunday

Grayton to Seaside by bike

Ride after breakfast and return the bikes before checkout traffic builds.

Friday

Check in, then walk Grayton or Seaside

Buy groceries along US 98 before turning toward the beach and aim to park by late afternoon. Keep the first evening within the Grayton, WaterColor, Seaside, or Seagrove cluster.

4–6 p.m.

Arrival

Confirm the beach entry before unpacking

Ask the host for the exact public, neighborhood, or accommodation-linked entry and any required credentials. Walk the route once in daylight so the first beach morning does not begin with a search.

6–9 p.m.

Dinner

Choose one central-30A evening

For Grayton, compare Chiringo, The Red Bar, or Grayton Seafood. For Seaside and WaterColor, compare Great Southern Cafe, Bud & Alley's, or a WaterColor dining room. Reserve where required and walk from the lodging when possible.

Saturday

Beach morning, Western Lake and dinner nearby

Use Grayton Beach State Park only after its current official notice confirms suitable access. Shift the water portion for storms, surf flags, wind, or an open coastal-lake outfall.

8–11 a.m.

Beach

Start at the confirmed entry

Use the rental's confirmed beach entry or a current public-access option before parking fills. Read South Walton's beach flags before entering the Gulf, and remain ashore when conditions are unsafe.

11 a.m.–3 p.m.

Western Lake

Walk or paddle from Grayton Beach State Park

Use the lake edge, trails, or an established paddle concession only when the park notice, wind, and outfall conditions support it. If water plans are unsuitable, stay ashore for the park landscape or spend the afternoon around Grayton and Seaside.

6–9 p.m.

Dinner

Return to the central cluster

Choose seafood or live music in Grayton, Southern cooking in Seaside, or a resort dining room in WaterColor. Do not add an east- or west-corridor drive after the park day.

Sunday

Breakfast and the Grayton-to-Seaside ride

A short Timpoochee Trail ride connects Western Lake, WaterColor, and Seaside before departure without turning the morning into a full-corridor expedition.

7:30–9 a.m.

Breakfast

Eat before collecting the bikes

Use Crackings near Grayton or a coffee and breakfast stop in Seaside or WaterColor, depending on the lodging. Fill water bottles before leaving the town center.

9–11:30 a.m.

Bike

Ride Grayton to Seaside and back

Slow at County Road 283, County Road 395, parking entrances, and town-center driveways. Turn around at Seaside or earlier while the return remains comfortable for the least experienced rider.

Before departure

Exit

Return the bikes and use US 98

Collect the car after the ride and use US 98 for the airport or drive home. Check live traffic and the current airport advisory before leaving the corridor.
