Scenic Highway 30A

Find your stretch of 30A

A long ribbon of Gulf road holds very different beach trips. Choose among quiet dune lakes, walkable town centers, broad public access, and polished east-end villages before you book.

Start with the place

30A is not one beach town

Scenic Highway 30A runs between US 98 connections west of Dune Allen and near Inlet Beach. Seaside and Rosemary may appear close on a map, but summer traffic, limited parking, and different beach-access rules can turn a short dinner run into a long crawl. Stay close enough to keep most beach time, coffee, dinner, and biking within one part of the corridor. Grayton and Seagrove put coastal dune lakes near the beach; Seaside and Rosemary put shops and restaurants within a compact town center; Gulf Place and Inlet Beach offer larger public-access options at opposite ends.

A long, narrow coast

The road is the organizing line, while dune lakes, state parks, and private communities interrupt easy beach access. Use the map for orientation, then keep each outing within one cluster.

Community locations are approximate. Check live traffic and Walton County beach-access information before setting out.

Beach in the morning

Parking, heat, thunderstorms, and crowds usually favor an early Gulf session. Verify the flag color and access rules before carrying gear down.

Bike within your cluster

The Timpoochee Trail is useful transportation, but it crosses driveways and roads repeatedly. Ride defensively and avoid treating it as a separated high-speed path.

Dinner near the rental

A reservation fifteen miles away can become the evening's main event in peak traffic. Save cross-corridor meals for a day already spent in that area.
